About Me

My Background

I trained at Newark on the Woodwind Instrument Making course from 2013 to 2015, and went on to work in a precision engineering firm in the north of England for the next 7 years. Here I continued to learn more skills relevant to flute making, as well as collecting (and making) many of the tools and machines I needed.

During that time I had the opportunity to meet Chris Wilkes, who has been hugely generous with his time and knowledge, and continues to be a big source of encouragement in my step to follow flute making as a full-time career.

My Approach To Making

Thanks to my background in precision engineering, my approach has always been one of accuracy and repeatability wherever this is feasible. I aim to make flutes that are consistently of a very high standard, both in terms of build quality as well as their playability, tonal characteristics and responsiveness.
